Which qualification is right for me?

Step 1: Identify your level of study

Advanced level: If you’re experienced, looking to advance to a strategic level, and aspire to become a Chartered Member, then this postgraduate-level qualification is for you.

Intermediate level: If you’re already working in HR or L&D and want to develop your knowledge and skills, then this undergraduate degree-level qualification is the choice for you.

Foundation level: If you’re just starting out in HR or L&D or working in a support role, these A-Level standard courses will make an ideal first professional qualification.

Step 2: Choose your size of qualification

Diploma: Study a wide breadth of subjects.
Successful completion of a Foundation or Intermediate Diploma leads to Associate membership.
An Advanced Diploma also leads to Associate membership, and gives you the knowledge to apply for Chartered Membership (subject to eligibility).

Certificate: Study the essentials employers are looking for.
Successful completion at any level leads to Associate Membership.

Award: Focus on one area.
Get the knowledge and skills in a specific HR or L&D subject.
Note: Awards do not lead to any professional grade of membership but may give you credits toward a Certificate or Diploma.

Step 3: Find your perfect qualification and study centre

Each year more than 12,000 individuals join our HR, L&D and specialist study programmes. You can study CIPD qualifications at universities, colleges and training providers in Asia and internationally. Most of our centres offer a range of flexible study options to fit in with your busy schedule.

New CIPD qualifications

The world of work is shifting fast. Innovation and change is happening everywhere. The future will raise new questions, but also new opportunities.

In November 2018 we launched the Profession Map which provides a strong foundation giving people professionals the confidence and capabilities to guide their decision making, actions and behaviours.

In January 2021 we launched new CIPD qualifications, available to study at Study Centres in the UK and Middle East. Some of these Centres offer the option to study 100% online, from anywhere in the world. At the core of the new qualifications is the Profession Map. We will keep you updated as to when these qualifications are based in your region but in the meantime, you can explore available Study Centres here.

What does this mean for you?

All current and future CIPD qualifications are up to date and fit for purpose and every qualification carries the CIPD stamp of approval.

Any CIPD qualification you achieve will both enhance and prove your capabilities as a people professional so there’s no need to wait to take your next step with us.

If you’re currently studying a CIPD qualification, you will still hold one of the most respected and valued qualifications in your field. The new qualifications will not affect the outcome of your current studies.
